You may or may not be surprised to hear many a Jun Maeda fan express their opinion that his greatest works are found in his musical writing: Production, compositions and lyrics. Having worked on two very deep concept albums, Love Song (2005) and Owari no Hoshi no Love Song (2012), Maeda has been teasing his newest album venture on Key Sounds Label via Twitter.
This new album, yet to be titled (jokingly referred to as Love Song 3 by our members) and having been in the writing stages for a while, officially began recording on the 30th of October, 2016. Maeda has been giving directions for the recording process from home. While there isn’t a tremendous amount of detail in regard to the album’s overall content, most notably who the vocalist of this record will be- what we do know is that a singer has been chosen. We’ll get to look forward to that reveal yet.
Some minor information of the album’s content is one song titled “That Which I’ve Forgotten”. Said to be the record’s main track, Maeda has praised the vocalist of being perfect for it. While not able to put his feelings well into words when describing the track, Maeda stated that it’s in times like these that he’s glad to be a song writer.
You can buy and listen to both Love Song and Owari no Hoshi no Love Song on iTunes. Physical copies can be purchased from CD Japan or Amazon.jp, among other places. We would highly recommend them! The Special Edition of Owari no Hoshi no Love Song is particularly desirable.
Please look forward to information on the release and purchase options for the new album when it becomes available!
