Yeah, we’re not sure how to react either.
Today, president of VisualArt’s Baba Takahiro wrote a start-of-the-year blog outlining VisualArt’s plans for 2017. In the blog, he mentions that VisualArt’s are in the process of planning to assist in the development of more and more anime series. In particular, the plan they’ve progressed the furthest with is for an anime adaptation of Kud Wafter. Supposedly planning began last year and has been progressing smoothly, so I’d wager we can probably expect a Kud Wafter anime some time in 2018 if all goes according to plan. And who knows what other anime are in the pipeline as well. Tomoyo After, perhaps?
Kud Wafter is a visual novel developed by Key in 2010 as a spin-off of Little Busters! featuring Kud, Riki, Kanata and A-chan, together with some new characters. The plot is a ecchi slice of life story about Riki’s shenanigans living in Kud’s dorm after an accident in the boys dorm leaves his room inaccessible. The plot builds upon themes developed in Kud’s route, including her love of rockets and space. We’re expecting that JC Staff of the Little Busters! anime will also be working on this adaptation, but that’s mere speculation at this point.
We’ll keep you updated on all the latest news on this project as it unfolds. In the meantime, let us know what you think of Kud Wafter and other anime from Key in the discussion below!
